Entities, athletes and managers gather in Brasília against the Security Constitutional Amendment

oglobo1 September 2026 at 07:00

Entities, athletes and managers of Brazilian sports carry out this Tuesday a mobilization in Brasília against the Security PEC, which reduces the resources from bets destined for the sports sector. The Brazilian Clubs Committee (CBC) leads the movement, dialoguing with parliamentarians and sports leaders to alert about the impacts of the measure on the training and development of athletes in the country.

The text approved by the Chamber of Deputies reduces from 12% to 8.4% the social allocations from fixed-quota betting, redirecting these resources to public security funds. According to estimates from the sports sector, this change can withdraw around R$ 500 million per year from Brazilian sports.

Paulo Maciel, president of CBC, defended that the country needs both public policies and criticized the way the strengthening of one area is being done at the expense of the other. "We cannot admit that the strengthening of one area occurs with the withdrawal of resources that sustain sports training and the daily work of Clubs," he stated.

The mobilization also counts on the participation of CBC ambassadors, athletes from various sports who join the fight against the reduction of sports resources coming from betting.
