New TVDE law comes into force and integrates taxis into platform transport regime

Expresso1 September 2026 at 09:01

The new TVDE law (Electronic Transport Vehicles) came into force this Tuesday, introducing significant changes to the platform transport sector. The main novelty is the possibility of taxis operating through electronic platforms, which represents an important change in the sector's regulation.

This integration of taxis into the platform transport regime has generated controversy among sector professionals. Both TVDE operators and taxi sector associations have expressed criticism regarding the changes introduced by the new legislation.

The law aims to regularize and modernize the sector, allowing greater convergence between traditional taxi services and electronic transport platforms, but the negative reactions from both sides indicate that the implementation of the new regulation may face challenges.
