Latest news from Ceuta, live | Equality estimates 21 sexual assaults in Ceuta during the migratory crisis

El Periódico Mediterráneo - General1 September 2026 at 07:16

The Spanish city of Ceuta faces the consequences of the massive entry of thousands of people from Morocco, in a new migratory crisis that has affected the region. The Ministry of Equality registered 21 sexual assaults in Ceuta during this period of migratory crisis.

The Spanish government, led by Pedro Sánchez, is considering a reform of the foreigners law to facilitate repatriations at the border. This measure arises as a response to the unprecedented migratory pressure that the autonomous city has faced in recent weeks.

The situation in Ceuta represents one of the greatest migratory challenges for Spain, with thousands of people crossing the border irregularly in a short period of time, overloading the city's resources and the competent authorities.
