The devastating floods that occurred on Wednesday on the border between Nepal and China have already caused more than 1,000 deaths, according to local authorities. The death toll continued to rise and exceeded the thousand mark on Tuesday morning.
The natural disaster also left more than 4,400 people missing, raising fears that the death toll could increase significantly in the coming days. Search and rescue operations are ongoing in the affected areas.
The floods severely hit the border region between the two countries, destroying homes, infrastructure and agricultural land. The humanitarian situation remains critical, with thousands of people displaced from their homes.
