The Low Emissions Zone of Lisbon will have a "digital twin", a technological tool that will allow to simulate and anticipate the effects of future public policies before their implementation.
The project is European and is being coordinated by NOVA IMS, a research institution of the Nova University of Lisbon specialized in information and spatial management.
Through this digital twin, it will be possible to anticipate and evaluate the impacts on air quality, on urban heat islands and on the health of the population, allowing a detailed analysis of the various possible scenarios.
The main objective is to support public decision-making in a more informed way, ensuring that the new measures implemented in the low emissions zone are tested virtually before being applied in practice.
