The Colombian government carried out bombings that resulted in the death of 20 guerrillas from the Revolutionary Armed Forces of Colombia (FARC). The operation was ordered by the country's new president, marking a firm approach against the remaining armed groups.
The attacks targeted guerrillas who were under the command of Iván Mordisco, considered Colombia's most wanted rebel. Mordisco is one of the leaders who did not adhere to the 2016 peace agreement and continues to lead dissident factions of the FARC.
The military operation took place on Monday morning in the Guaviare region, located in the south of the country. This area has frequently been the scene of confrontations between security forces and guerrilla groups operating outside the peace agreement.
