Irish MEP Ciaran Mullooly announced that the European Union will suspend Brazilian meat imports starting Thursday. The measure represents a blockade on purchases of animal origin products from Brazil.

Mullooly revealed the information today, during a speech related to the topic. The Irish politician serves as the country's representative in the European Parliament.

The Brazilian government, represented by Brasília, had made appeals for the European Union to reverse or delay the decision. However, according to the MEP, the suspension will take effect as planned.
