DR Congo exceeds 6,000 Ebola cases and counts 2,911 dead

dnoticias.pt1 September 2026 at 05:06

The Ebola epidemic in the Democratic Republic of Congo has exceeded 6,000 cases and now counts 2,911 dead, making it the fastest spread ever recorded. Congolese authorities also announced that more than 1,360 people have recovered from the disease, an evolution they considered encouraging.

The epidemic is mainly affecting the eastern region of the country, where it spreads under extremely difficult conditions. Insecurity in the region and population displacements contribute to the rapid dissemination of the disease, hindering containment and treatment efforts.
