After prior notice from a minister and coordination with MDB, Alcolumbre forwarded Pacheco's name to the TCU

Federal Court of Accounts (TCU) Minister Bruno Dantas approached the president of the Senate, Davi Alcolumbre (União Brasil-AP), in July to sound out the position of the House regarding a possible departure from the court before the October elections. Dantas wanted to know if Alcolumbre would consider the timing of the decision inappropriate and whether he would raise any objection to his departure.

Alcolumbre responded that the departure would not affect the process for appointing a successor to the TCU. The president of the Senate also signaled that Congress would have two weeks of concentrated legislative work in September, with voting sessions in the Plenary, and that the matter could advance during that period if there was a political agreement.

Dantas officially left the TCU this Monday, clearing the way for the Senate to appoint former Senate President Rodrigo Pacheco (PSB-MG). Pacheco is a close ally of Alcolumbre, and the coordination involved advance notice from the minister and political coordination with the MDB.
