The Chamber of Deputies approved this Monday the provisional measure that regulates a credit line of R$ 30 billion for the purchase of cars by app drivers and taxi drivers. The initiative is part of an electoral package by President Luiz Inácio Lula da Silva, a candidate for re-election, and was issued as a gesture to financially assist the category.
The MP still needs to go through a vote in the Senate plenary to have permanent effect. Its validity only expires in October, but the forecast is that Congress will be empty in the coming weeks due to elections. The week that begins this Monday should be the last voting period before the first round, which will take place on October 4.
The MP was approved in the joint committee last Friday, outside of this week of concentrated effort and after movements of rapprochement between President Lula and the presidents of the Senate, Davi Alcolumbre, and the Chamber, Hugo Motta. The financing line is specifically aimed at app drivers and taxi drivers.
