Joana Pechirra, a 25-year-old Portuguese woman, traveled to Guinea-Bissau for a volunteering experience of just six months. What was supposed to be a temporary stage in her journey transformed into a profound and lasting change in her life.
The young woman arrived in the city of Cacheu with the initial goal of doing volunteer work, but ended up finding in Guinea-Bissau a new way to create impact. The experience modified not only her professional trajectory but also her personal identity.
