Video shows paradise beach in Greece taken over by tourists: 'Hell on Earth'

oglobo1 September 2026 at 02:14

A video posted on Instagram by a user identified as Julien shows Balos beach, located in the Chania region, in the northwest of Crete island, in Greece, completely packed with tourists during the peak of the summer season. The images reveal hundreds of people crammed onto a narrow metal walkway and along the sand, strongly contrasting with the turquoise waters and white sand that made the location famous.

The video has already surpassed 950,000 views on Instagram and gone viral on social media. Balos beach is known for its shallow lagoon and is considered one of the main postcard landmarks of Crete island.

In the video caption, Julien ironically described the situation with the phrase "Hell on Earth," highlighting the contrast between the paradise image normally associated with the destination and the reality experienced by visitors during peak season.

Without prior notice: new Form I-864 authorizes credit check of those sponsoring immigrants — change already in effect

USCIS in the United States made mandatory, starting August 31, 2026, a new edition of Form I-864 (Affidavit of Support) without any transition period, requiring green card sponsors to authorize the agency to consult their credit reports and scores from Equifax, TransUnion, and Experian. The update affects forms I-864, I-864A, and I-864EZ, and any submission of the previous edition will be rejected. Sponsors who have a credit freeze must lift the freeze to avoid delays in the process, although there is no minimum credit score required by law. The change reinforces the trend of the American government to more rigorously verify the financial health of those who commit to supporting immigrants.
