The São Paulo Electoral Public Prosecutor's Office decided to terminate the procedure targeting Governor and reelection candidate Tarcísio de Freitas (Republicanos) for not finding alleged misconduct in the behavior of police vehicles regarding the car serving Fernando Haddad's (PT) team. The PT candidate's ticket had filed a lawsuit seeking to investigate whether the troop movement constituted misuse of public resources and functional excess.
Despite clearing Tarcísio of electoral sanctions, the opinion signed by regional electoral prosecutor Paulo Taubemblatt indicates that the thesis of "mere coincidence in ordinary patrolling" is "unbelievable." According to the body's statement, it is not possible to assume that two Tactical Force teams made consecutive contacts with the vehicle serving Haddad's team without some type of direction.
Renan Santos stated that he will file a writ of mandamus to reverse Minister Toffoli's decision that suspended Tarcísio's campaign. Campaign strategies are also mentioned, with Lula focusing on legacy and Flávio Dino on security to attract voters in the four states with the highest number of undecided voters.
