Portugal has been receiving European money for 40 years, but continues to fall behind other countries. Since joining the European Union in 1986, the country has received 167 billion euros in European funds. Despite this significant investment, the middle class has been identified as being under attack. Countries that started their development journey further behind than Portugal, such as Lithuania or Estonia, have already overtaken the country in terms of economic progress.
