The president of the Senate, Davi Alcolumbre (União-AP), filed on Monday night the indication of senator Rodrigo Pacheco (PSB-MG) for a vacancy at the Court of Accounts of the Union. The indication was made through a legislative decree project authored by Alcolumbre himself, and interlocutors of the president of the Senate reported that the vote should occur this Tuesday.
The expectation is that the indication follows an accelerated process, being voted directly in plenary without going through committees. The vacancy at the Court of Accounts was opened after minister Bruno Dantas anticipated his retirement to work in the private sector.
Even before the vacancy was opened, Alcolumbre had been working for months on the possibility of Pacheco assuming the position. The TCU is composed of nine ministers, three indicated by the Senate, three by the Chamber of Deputies and three by the Presidency of the Republic. The vacancy left by Bruno Dantas is under the Senate's purview.
The Palace of the Presidency is expected to advise favorably on the indication. The leader of the government in the Senate also expressed support for Pacheco's name for the position at the Court of Accounts of the Union.
