The EU remains, for now, at 27

It will not be thanks to Iceland that the European Union will return to having 28 members. Not that the eventual accession of the island, with its 400,000 inhabitants, would politically compensate for the departure of the United Kingdom, the celebrated Brexit, but the likelihood of a new enlargement in the western part of Europe would have a certain symbolism.
