The program by the Municipal Police of Maia has completed a decade of existence, having supported a total of 100 elderly people over its 10 years of activity. The program was created with the objective of combating isolation and social vulnerability among the elderly population of the municipality.
Currently, the program has a team of eight officers who ensure the support of registered elderly people. At this moment, there are 40 elderly people receiving support through this initiative by the local council.
The program by the Municipal Police of Maia focuses specifically on intervention with elderly people who face situations of isolation, seeking to offer them support and regular follow-up. The initiative represents one of the responses by the city council to address the social needs of its elderly population.
