The Socialist Party (PS) committed to defending the rights of Mozambican citizens in Portugal. The promise comes at a time of growing concern about the immigration policies implemented by the Portuguese government.
Former Secretary of State for Portuguese Communities, José Carneiro, met in Maputo with the president of the Assembly of the Republic of Mozambique, Verónica Macamo. The meeting served to address concerns regarding the situation of Mozambican emigrants in Portugal.
During the meeting, Carneiro warned about the impact of new Portuguese immigration laws on citizens of the Lusophone community. These measures will have significant consequences for Mozambicans who reside or intend to reside in Portugal.
The discussion took place in the context of bilateral relations between the two countries and the importance of the Lusophone community in Portugal. The PS intends to continue monitoring the situation and defending the interests of these citizens.
