The Polytechnic of Bragança will be transformed into the University of Bragança and the Interior North. This change represents a significant shift in the status of this higher education institution in the northern interior of Portugal.

The institution currently has around ten thousand students and is composed of six schools, making it one of the largest in the country in the polytechnic sector.

The mayor of Mirandela, a municipality in the region, considered this transformation a "long-standing aspiration" that is finally being realized, highlighting that the change will bring new opportunities for the northern interior region.
