Germany criticizes US invitation to Russian minister for G20 meeting

Germany criticized the invitation made by the United States to the Russian Finance Minister, Siluanov, to participate in a G20 meeting.

This is not the first time Siluanov has participated in a G20 summit. His last participation was via videoconference, in April 2022, shortly after the start of the Russian invasion of Ukraine.

The US invitation to the Russian minister comes in a context of international tensions related to the conflict in Ukraine. The German position demonstrates the continuation of divergences between Western countries and Russia regarding Russian participation in international forums.
