Mariana Machado won the silver medal in the 10,000 meters at the 2026 Taranto Mediterranean Games. The Portuguese athlete finished less than three seconds behind the Italian champion, demonstrating a performance very close to the top of the competition.
Besides Mariana Machado, other Portuguese athletes also climbed the podium in these events. Dongmo and Inchude were other highlighted names who achieved medals in this Mediterranean competition.
The Portuguese athletics team also stood out by achieving a medal through the 4x100 meters relay, thus completing a positive participation from Portugal in these events.
The Mediterranean Games are being held in Taranto, bringing together athletes from various countries bordering the Mediterranean in multiple sporting disciplines.
