The Strait of Hormuz is once again at the center of new military attacks between the United States and Iran. Tension on the strategic sea route intensified with an exchange of attacks between the two countries.
President Donald Trump threatened to respond to Iranian retaliation, at a time of military escalation in the region. Iran's retaliation came as a response to a limited attack carried out by the United States.
The limited American attack occurred when Iran's Revolutionary Guards were about to mine the Strait of Hormuz again, one of the world's most important maritime routes for oil transport. This sea passage is considered strategic for the global economy and for the energy interests of several nations.
