The Portuguese continue to cross the border for refueling in Spain, but there are those who consider that the price difference no longer pays off. The Spanish tax reduction makes the trip less attractive to some consumers.
From this Tuesday onwards, the fuel price difference between Portugal and Spain will become more pronounced, especially regarding diesel. The Spanish government decided to reduce taxes on fuels again.
With this measure, diesel in Spain will become cheaper by another 10 cents per liter. This tax reduction reinforces the competitiveness of Spanish prices compared to Portuguese ones.
The situation maintains the cross-border refueling phenomenon, although the smaller price difference may be reducing the number of Portuguese who make the trip to Spain specifically to fill up their tanks.
