Deniz Gül was authorized to travel to Turkey to complete his transfer from FC Porto to Galatasaray. The 23-year-old forward was going through a tense time, having been in mourning following his father's death, which initially delayed his trip.
The deal between the two clubs is closed at 10 million euros plus extras. Gül, who is a Turkish international, will thus represent Galatasaray, one of the major clubs in Turkish football.
The forward arrived at FC Porto last summer from Sunderland, but failed to establish himself as a starter in the Porto team. During his time at the Portuguese club, Gül scored only two goals in 25 appearances.
With this transfer, Galatasaray strengthens its attack with a young player who knows European football, after playing in England, Italy and Portugal. The Turkish club hopes Gül will regain his best form in the Turkish league.
