The Directorate-General for the Arts (DGArtes) announced that 71 artistic programming projects will receive support totaling 1.9 million euros. The support covers the areas of Street Arts, Circus, Dance, Music, Opera and Theatre.
216 projects entered the competition, of which 145 did not receive any support. Of these, 110 projects met all eligibility criteria, but the available funds were exhausted before they could be awarded.
DGArtes also revealed that 110 of the competing projects met the necessary conditions to be supported, which demonstrates the existence of demand far exceeding the available funding capacity.
This artistic programming competition falls within the scope of public support for culture in Portugal, representing a significant but insufficient investment to meet the total demand existing in the sector.
