Praça da República in Viana do Castelo will host on November 19 the premiere of "Viana, the Legend of the Golden Hearts", a 3D animation film directed by Rodrigo Carvalho. The mayor, Luís Nobre, said the event will be "a Hollywood-style moment with a red carpet".
The choice of Praça da República aims to associate the premiere with the city's monuments that appear in the film. According to Luís Nobre, the goal is to "transmit to the world that the setting associated with the film is real, that it is available to be visited and enjoyed".
The City Council approved a new support of 150,000 euros to the production company Watermelon Productions for the international promotion of the film, increasing the municipality's financial involvement in the production.
The film has a budget of about 15 million euros, will be released in Portuguese and English versions, and opens simultaneously in national and international theaters.
