The second edition of Feirão Move Brasil, held in São Paulo last week, resulted in only 130 BNDES-subsidized financing contracts for the purchase of new cars. Approximately 1,400 people attended the event, which took place at the Commercial Workers Union headquarters, in Anhangabaú. Of this total, 80 taxi drivers and 50 app-based drivers obtained the credit letter on-site, while others were still awaiting credit analysis.
The federal government program primarily targets taxi drivers and app-based drivers but has faced difficulties in approving more contracts. The main barrier identified is access to credit through accredited financial institutions. The number of contracts signed at the fair is considered low when compared to approximately one thousand contracts that are signed daily even without fairs being held, according to BNDES data.
Despite the modest result, the figure represents an improvement compared to the first edition of the event. Previously, fewer than 100 contracts were signed, and only 168 drivers had visited the fair. The holding of fairs is part of the federal government's strategy to try to accelerate the granting of financing to these professionals.
