The Sociedade de Transportes Coletivos do Porto (STCP) now provides real-time information on bus waiting times as of this Monday through WhatsApp. The new bidirectional communication channel works through the number +351 226 158 158 or via direct access at https://wab.stcp.pt/STCP, allowing passengers to check schedules and track bus routes in the application.
To get the arrival forecast, the user only needs to start a conversation with STCP on the platform and select one of three search options: indicate the desired line, the stop name or code, or share their current location. The service sends the arrival estimate of the next bus within seconds, allowing subsequent real-time tracking of the journey's progress.
STCP states that the focus on WhatsApp aims to adapt the offer to the public's digital habits, using a tool already integrated into passengers' daily lives to make schedule consultation as simple as sending a message. The new functionality complements the operator's existing real-time information channels.
The company plans to continue investing in the digital modernization of services to simplify the use of public transport in the Metropolitan Area of Porto.
