The Xacobeo Norte Surf Fest will bring together more than 220 surfers in a competition that will take place in Leça da Palmeira. The event marks the first time this Portuguese beach hosts a stage of the World Surf League.
The competition is part of the Xacobeo celebrations, the Galician term for the Camino de Santiago, which holds particular significance this year. The organization expects the event to bring great visibility to the region.
The participating surfers come from different countries, taking the opportunity to compete in a stage of the world surfing circuit. The World Surf League is the governing body responsible for organizing the main international competitions in the sport.
Leça da Palmeira, known for its favorable surfing conditions, thus becomes a reference venue on the international calendar for the sport with this first WSL stage.
