The Spanish Guardia Civil carried out a significant cocaine seizure in the province of Badajoz. On August 13, a Guardia Civil Traffic patrol attempted to intercept the driver of a van on the Ex-300 road, near Talavera la Real, after he had made an irregular maneuver with the vehicle.
The operation resulted in the seizure of 423 kilos of cocaine. The drug was distributed across 17 sports bags, each containing packages of cocaine, which were hidden inside the van.
The case represents another significant blow against drug trafficking in that region of Spanish Extremadura, an area frequently used as a transit route for drugs coming from the Iberian Peninsula.
The authorities have not yet released more details about the identity of the arrested driver or about possible ramifications of the criminal organization involved in transporting the seized cargo.
