The Law and Justice Party (PiS) won the October 2015 elections with an absolute majority in Poland. According to political scientist Aleksander Szczerbiak, the Polish political class drew a clear conclusion from this electoral experience: demonstrating firmness on immigration has become electorally essential.
Poland emerged as a new model for the European right, particularly on immigration, rearmament and financial management. The PiS approach to immigration proved winning from an electoral point of view, now influencing other right-wing parties on the continent.
