oglobo31 August 2026 at 19:01

The 100% Brazilian streaming platform LikePlay has reached 177 countries, expanding the presence of Brazilian audiovisual content in the global market. The advancement of streaming is no longer a phenomenon concentrated in higher-income regions, with the Midwest leading adoption (51.5% of television households), followed by the South (51%) and Southeast (49.5%), while the Northeast reached 30.7%, also showing growth.

Data from IBGE's Continuous PNAD shows that video-on-demand services reached 33.4 million Brazilian households in 2025, present in 44.4% of television households. During the same period, subscription TV declined to 23.5%, representing the lowest level in the historical series.

The market size justifies the race among platforms. According to Ancine, streaming services and video platforms generate approximately R$ 69.7 billion per year in Brazil. The PwC research places the country as responsible for 36% of entertainment and media revenue in Latin America and in 11th position in the global sector ranking.
