The Justice Court of Rio de Janeiro has decreed the bankruptcy of the economic group of the Manguinhos Oil Refinery, known as REFIT, along with three related companies: Gasdiesel, MG Distribuidora, and Manguinhos Química. The sentence was issued by the 5th Business Court of Rio and signed by Judge Arthur Eduardo Magalhaes Ferreira, determining the immediate closure of the companies and the blocking of their bank accounts and assets.
The decision ends a judicial reorganization process that had been dragging on for years. The magistrate highlighted the lack of good faith in the process and pointed out that the companies had accumulated millions in debts, in addition to failing to comply with the agreements made for tax payments.
The judge took into consideration reports from the Public Ministry and the State of Rio de Janeiro, which demonstrated a sharp decline in the refinery's revenue, reaching zero revenue at the beginning of this year, which made it unviable to continue the group's activities.
The text also mentions that the magistrate made reference to recent Federal Police operations, although the information is incomplete in the article.
