Russian defender Georgii Tunguliiadi is the latest signing for Portimonense, an Algarve club that plays in the Portuguese II Liga football league, having signed a contract valid for three seasons, with an option for two more.

The 21-year-old player arrives in the Algarve from Estrela da Amadora, where he represented the B team, the under-23 side and the senior team, for which he played two games in the top tier of Portuguese football. At the presentation at Estádio Municipal de Portimão, Tunguliiadi explained that he left Estrela da Amadora because he would not have the playing time he wanted, stating that he hopes to play more and improve as a professional. The defender confessed he prefers to play as a right-back, although he can also play as a centre-back, promising to help the new team with "guts and character".

Before arriving at Estrela da Amadora, the Russian footballer went through the youth systems of Lokomotiv Moscow, Spartak Moscow and FK Sochi in Russia, and also played for Rayo Vallecano in Spain.

This is Portimonense's 15th signing for the 2026/27 season. After four rounds, Portimonense sits in sixth place in the II Liga with seven points, and plays on Sunday in Leiria in the fifth round of the championship.
