Former Brazilian national team striker and 2002 World Cup champion Luiz Carlos Bombonato Goulart, 50, known as Luizão, is accused of assaulting his 43-year-old girlfriend. The incident occurred on Sunday morning (30th), in Maresias, on the coast of São Paulo.
According to the Civil Police, the motive for the assault was allegedly a jealous dispute. During the fight, Luizão allegedly assaulted the woman, who, in trying to defend herself, also injured him. The assault occurred as the couple was returning to their condominium.
The case was registered at the 1st Women's Defense Delegation (DDM) as domestic and psychological violence, bodily injury, threats, and defamation. The ex-player's partner was taken to undergo examination at the Legal Medical Institute (IML).
Investigations continue to clarify the full circumstances of what happened.
