Brazilian Gabriel Jesus arrived in Spain this Monday to undergo medical exams and complete the necessary procedures before closing the deal with Barcelona. The official announcement from the club should happen on the afternoon of next Tuesday. The agreement between the clubs was reached in the final stretch of the transfer window for 10 million euros, plus bonuses that can reach 4 million.
Gabriel Jesus has a contract with Arsenal until June 2027, but he lost his spot in the English team. The player was left out of the squad's training last week and was not called up for the first official matches of the season. In search of more opportunities, he accepted Barcelona's proposal, which moved quickly in negotiations in recent days.
Barcelona was looking for a striker to occupy the number 9 position, a position that became lacking after the departures of Robert Lewandowski and Ferran Torres. Initially, the Catalan club tried to sign Julián Álvarez, but Atlético de Madrid did not release the Argentine player, which led to the choice of Gabriel Jesus as an alternative.
