Devastating floods hit Nepal, near the border with China, on Wednesday, causing a humanitarian catastrophe. The reports released on Monday by authorities from both countries indicate at least 955 dead and 4,471 missing in total.
In Nepal, the authority responsible for emergency management revised downward the number of missing, from previous estimates, to 3,925 people. The total dead in the country reached 939 fatalities.
In the Chinese autonomous region of Tibet, state media confirmed 16 deaths and 546 missing after the catastrophe. Combined numbers from both sides of the border, the disaster left 955 dead and 4,471 people still unaccounted for.
