The Junta de Freguesia of Almeirim once again warned, on August 31st, about situations of abandonment of waste next to containers and in public spaces designated for garbage disposal, expressing concern about behaviors that continue to affect the cleanliness and environment in the parish. In a post on social media, the entity considered it "outrageous" that, despite the existence of proper places for waste disposal, situations of garbage scattered in the streets and next to containers continue to arise. The junta called for a greater sense of responsibility and civic duty among the population.
The problem is not new in the municipality of Almeirim and has also been reported in other parishes. In Fazendas de Almeirim, the Junta de Freguesia has warned on several occasions about the illegal abandonment of furniture, appliances, rubble, and other waste, going so far as to classify some locations as "illegal dumps". Similar situations have also been recorded in Benfica do Ribatejo.
