The New York Stock Exchange opened the session in decline at the start of the last session of August. The retreat occurred in the wake of Kevin Warsh's debut at Jackson Hole and a new military escalation in the Strait of Ormuz.
The industrial Dow Jones index retreated 0.65% to 53,211.83 points, while the tech Nasdaq fell 0.36% to 26,309.38 points. The S&P 500 lost 0.44% to 7,677.76 points.
In the oil market, brent barrel surged 5.44% to $90.78 and crude rose 2.73% to $85.68.
