Inflation accelerates in August driven by fuels

Inflation accelerated in August according to data from the National Statistics Institute. The year-on-year Consumer Price Index rate rose to 3.3%.

The main driver of this acceleration was fuels. The increase in energy product prices explains almost entirely the rise in inflation in the period under analysis.

This data represents a reversal of the downward trend that had been observed in previous months, with inflation returning to accelerate significantly.
