José Carlos Eymael, son of politician from Rio Grande do Sul José Maria Eymael, is running for federal deputy from São Paulo and decided to use the famous jingle popularized by his father in his previous campaigns. The song "Ey, ey, Eymael... A Christian democrat..." was originally created for Eymael's campaign for mayor of São Paulo in 1985, by composer and tailor José Raimundo.
José Maria Eymael, who is 85 years old, is a former constituent congressman and has run for President of the Republic six times. He is no longer president of the Christian Democracy party (DC) since July of last year and will not be in the 2026 presidential race.
José Carlos Eymael has been trying to get a political seat since 2004. In previous campaigns, he tried to get elected as councilman and also tried to reach the Chamber of Deputies, but without success. Now, he is betting on the jingle inherited from his father to try to boost his current candidacy for federal deputy.
