The deadline for restructuring Fundo de Financiamento Estudantil (Fies) debts under the Desenrola Fies 2026 program, which offers discounts and facilitated conditions for settling payments, ends this Monday (the 31st). Former higher education students who benefited from this public policy should contact the financial institutions with whom they originally signed their contracts, namely Banco do Brasil or Caixa Econômica Federal.
The Ministry of Education reinforces that each financing contract can only go through one restructuring throughout the entire duration of Desenrola Fies. Fies is the federal program that finances studies at private higher education institutions, and after graduation, students need to repay the amount financed by the government with low interest and facilitated payment conditions, respecting the former student's income limit.
The Desenrola Fies 2026 is aimed at students who have Fies contracts signed up to 2017 and who were, on May 4, 2026, in the amortization phase. The program offers special conditions so that these debtors can settle their debts with the federal government related to student financing.
