Mortgage payments rose again in September for variable rate home loan contracts with index review this month. Contracts that have the 12-month Euribor as a reference and are revised in September now pay 712.15 euros per month.
This amount represents an increase of 70.48 euros compared to what was paid previously, more specifically compared to the previous review period. The increase is due to the rise in the 12-month Euribor, which has been progressively increasing.
Homeowners with mortgages indexed to the 6-month Euribor have also felt impacts on their payments, although the amounts vary depending on the contract's review date. The simulations typically refer to a medium-sized loan, with a remaining term of 30 years.
This increase comes in a context of continued rise in interest rates in the eurozone, which has been putting pressure on the household budgets of Portuguese people with home loans indexed to variable rates.
