There are about three thousand newly qualified nurses who are ready to join the National Health Service during the summer. However, their hiring is blocked due to delays in approving organizational development plans, a bureaucratic procedure required for opening new positions in the SNS.
This situation is generating great concern among the Order of Nurses, which warns of the real risk of these professionals leaving the country in search of work opportunities in other nations. Many of these nurses may choose to emigrate to markets that have already expressed interest in receiving them.
The hiring blockage comes at a time when the SNS is already facing serious human resource difficulties, with several health facilities reporting significant shortages of nursing staff. The situation further increases the pressure on professionals already working in the system.
The Order of Nurses has been calling on the competent authorities to speed up the bureaucratic processes and allow the integration of these three thousand new professionals into the SNS, thus avoiding the loss of qualified human resources that the country so desperately needs in the health sector.
