However, despite the increase in transplantations, the ONT warned that, as of December 31, 2025, 53,343 patients were on the waiting list to receive an organ transplant.
In the European Union, nine patients died per day while waiting for a transplant, which highlights the severity of the shortage of available organs for donation.
