Gustavo Puerta recently rejected a move to Olympiacos, with Evangelos Marinakis, owner of the Greek club, publicly revealing that the Colombian midfielder's preference is to move to Benfica. Despite the rejection, Marinakis has not given up on signing the player and is preparing a new strategy.

The Greek businessman, who also owns Nottingham Forest, now intends to negotiate directly with Racing Santander to acquire Puerta's registration through the English club. The plan involves buying the player for Nottingham Forest and subsequently loaning him to Olympiacos.

This way, Puerta could represent the Greek club during the 2026/27 season, having the opportunity to compete in the Europa League. At the end of the season, the Colombian midfielder would return to Nottingham Forest, remaining linked to Marinakis's English club.

The information was revealed by journalist Pipe Sierra from As Colombia, who also indicated that the operation comes at a time when Gustavo Puerta remains on Benfica's radar, with the club remaining the 22-year-old player's first choice.
