The Nepal Armed Police Force released images of the rescue of Manisha Magar, a six-year-old girl who was pulled from the mud in the rubble of the village of Timure, one of the first localities hit by the torrent that advanced like a tsunami through the valleys of the country in the Himalayan mountain range. The rescue occurred on Friday, days after the floods.
The images show the moment Manisha is found and pulled out by police officers from the middle of the rubble. The spokesperson for the police force, Netra Bahadur Karki, explained that her body was stuck in the mud, but her head was sticking out.
The successful rescue represented a breath of hope for the rescue teams working to locate survivors and for families waiting for news of their loved ones. According to Nepalese authorities, Manisha is out of danger and recovering from her injuries.
