During his statements, Zhuravlev said that Russia must attack in a way that leads the adversary to realize that "it has to capitulate."
The Russian politician was clear in his position when he stated: "If we have to attack, we will attack." His statement reinforces the belligerent rhetoric of nationalist figures in Russia regarding the conflict with Ukraine.
Zhuravlev is known for extremist positions and has been sanctioned by several Western countries due to his role in Russian politics. His defense of the use of nuclear weapons comes at a time of growing tension between Russia and the Western countries that support Ukraine.
