Marco Silva's irritation at press conference didn't sit well with Benfica player

Glorioso 1904 – Se é notícia do Benfica, está aqui31 August 2026 at 12:30

Marco Silva's statements at Sunday's press conference caused discomfort with a Benfica player. The red-and-white coach showed irritation when questioned about the few minutes Jakub Kaminski has had in this start of the season.

The Polish winger was signed this summer for 17 million euros, but has had reduced playing time. Marco Silva reacted defensively, questioning the journalists: "How much did Lukebakio cost and how many minutes did he play in the last three games? How much did Ríos cost and how many minutes did he play?", placing Kaminski in the same group of players with little playing time.

The coach made it clear that the amount invested in players does not influence his technical decisions. "I am here to make decisions for the team that I think are best, that is my role. I have already been very clear about what I expect from the player," Marco Silva stated, suggesting that his choices are based exclusively on sporting merit.

Marco Silva's words were not well received by Kaminski himself, who expressed displeasure at the way the coach spoke about his situation at Benfica.
