The National Police intervened this Monday morning at Loma Colmenar, in Ceuta, after hundreds of Maghreb migrants camped outside the facility tried to access the interior in a massive way. The agents fired shots into the air to contain the crowd and control the situation.
The Loma Colmenar reception center has been the scene of growing tensions, with migrants remaining camped outside waiting for an opportunity to enter the facilities. The massive access attempt forced the intervention of security forces to avoid a possible escape or invasion of the facility.
The situation in Ceuta, a Spanish city in North Africa, has been marked by a constant flow of migrants trying to cross the border from Morocco. The Spanish authorities face difficulties in managing migration pressure in the region, especially in reception centers that operate above their capacity.
